Cookie Policy
Last updated: 31 May 2026
This site uses a small number of cookies and browser storage mechanisms. Here is exactly what they are, why we use them, and how to control them.
Strictly necessary storage (no consent required)
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
theme | localStorage | Remembers your light or dark mode preference so the page loads in the right theme without a flash. | Until cleared |
cookie_consent | localStorage | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies so we don't ask again on every page. | Until cleared |
Analytics cookies (consent required)
Set only if you click Accept in the cookie banner.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Cookie (Google) | Distinguishes unique users for Google Analytics 4. | 2 years |
_ga_* | Cookie (Google) | Stores and counts page views for GA4. | 2 years |
These cookies are set by Google Analytics 4. Google anonymises IP addresses before storage. No flight-search data you enter into the checker is included in analytics events. The 2-year figure is the cookie's default lifespan in your browser (some browsers shorten it to around 13 months); it is separate from how long Google retains analytics data on its servers, which is covered in our privacy policy. See Google's privacy policy.
How to manage or withdraw consent
You can change your cookie preference at any time:
- Withdraw consent: Open your browser's developer tools
(F12 → Application → Local Storage → this site), delete the
cookie_consententry, and refresh the page. The consent banner will reappear. - Delete GA cookies: In the same panel, delete any entries
beginning with
_gaunder Cookies. - Browser settings: Most browsers let you block all third-party cookies or install extensions (uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger) that do so automatically.
- Google opt-out: Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on .
No advertising or tracking cookies
We do not use advertising networks, retargeting pixels, or social media tracking cookies. We don't currently use affiliate or referral links either; if we add one in future (for example, an optional link to a third-party claim specialist), it would open on that partner's domain and any cookies they set would be governed by their policies, not ours.
